~Goodbye Summer, Welcome Fall~

I am always sad to see summer go. Those days of just being home with really nothing to do, the boys playing outside all day because it doesn't get dark until almost 10pm, taking our vacation to Lake Tahoe, and those warm nights. I look forward to fall, the leaves turning, pumpkins on my porch, and that crispness in the air. Today it feels like Fall is in the air, the sun is shining and we are going to the County Fair!

~Celebrating Gloria~

I have posted a couple of times regarding Gloria. It is with a very sad heart that I share she has passed away. It seems Gloria did get her miracle, the miracle of heaven. Attached is the latest article from the Seattle Times about Gloria. Thank you for all your prayers.

~Pretty Plants~

My window boxes and other plants seem to be at their best, I couldn't help but to take pictures of them.

This beautiful hydrangea was planted in 2004 in memory of my mother-in-law, and is a stunning reminder when I look out my kitchen window of what a wonderful woman she was.

~9/11/01~

Today as my husband flies home to our family, I think of the day six years ago when so many families were waiting for their their loved ones to fly home or those families that saw a loved one off to work that day never to return. I will pray for all of those people who lost a loved one that day, and I pray that we will hold close those we love, and cherish everyday we get to
spend here with them.

Danielle's Random Meme

Danielle tagged me for a random meme, so here we go:

Favorite Movie: The Sound of Music, Pride and Prejudice (the BBC version with Colin Furth as Mr. Darcy), The Holiday
Last Movie I Saw: Becoming Jane, and the night before Miss Potter (both were great!)
Favorite TV Show: I really don't watch anything regularly (I know, Danielle, I'm supposed to be watching past seasons of Grey's, so that will be my fav :D, and I'm going to), American Idol (my family watches it together), oh and, of course, Oprah!
Favorite Type of Pen: I'm not too particular on type, but I like a cute pen :)
What do you struggle with?: Lately, it's been how to plan my day while my kids are at school (I home schooled them for the past 2 years, and now they are back in school).
How many siblings do you have?: 1 brother (passed away 5 years ago :(
Siblings name: Jeffrey
Birth order: I am the oldest
Pet's names: Rex (the cat), and Smokey(the dog)
Favorite Breakfast: Coffee and a maple nut scone from Starbucks
Favorite Salad: Chopped Salad
Favorite Dessert: Anything chocolate
Favorite Holiday(s): Easter and Christmas
If you could do anything: Ditto all of Danielle's peace and planet saving ideas, open a boutique, travel the world with my family, and go get my daughter tomorrow!
Living Male and Female Celebrities I would like to meet: Oprah and John Travolta
Deceased Celebrity I would like to meet: Princess Diana
My Birthday: 12/3

Favorite Christmas Song: anything from Nat King Cole, I love my Amy Grant Christmas CD's too. All my Christmas CD's are put away right now, but I have so many favorites.
Favorite soda: Diet Coke
What do you despise: kids "going out" in middle school, putting gas in the car, and grumpy sales clerks
Most annoying thing people do: when lanes of traffic are merging together because of road construction, accident, etc, and the LARGE flashing arrow clearly stats move over and people continue on in the lane and squeeze in, like the rest of us were just waiting here for fun. Aren't you glad you asked that one Danielle??
What did you do last night? Well, I had taken one Dramamine to go out on my father-in-law's boat, it worked great, but by the time I got home I was completely wiped out and slept from 4 until 7, and then went back to bed at 9:30. I did not like that feeling of being so completely wiped.
Any tattoos? Nope
Pierced ears: Yes, one on right, two on left (never use the second, I did it in high school)
Eye color: blue
Black or Brown accessories: Brown, brown's the new black, right?
Favorite Color: black (for home decorating), and pink and brown

~A day on the lake~

My father-in-law fulfilled one of his life long dreams this summer, to own a wooden boat. Today he invited the boys and I (Toby is out of town) to take it on its "maiden voyage". We could not have had a more beautiful day on Lake Washington. Here are some pictures of our afternoon in the sun!

~A Prayer for Gloria~

Update: New Article

This little girl has been in our local newspaper for the past few weeks. This is the 8th installment in a series of articles about Gloria. Her family is friends with a friend of mine. She is battling an aggressive form of cancer, while her family prays for a miracle. My girlfriend visited her last night, and said she was in very good spirits, and is just waiting for her miracle. Please pray for Gloria and her family.
