We had so much snow this year that we didn't make it downtown to see our traditional Nordstrom Santa...instead we went to the mall (not the background I love, but it will have to do this year)...Lucy and the boys were so patient waiting the "2+hours" in line, they found things to occupy their time :)
Today I got to celebrate my 40th Birthday with my daughter...a wish come true. I am so thankful for my amazing husband and my 3 wonderful boys...what more could a girl ask for?
(well maybe a laptop...and I got that too!)
Today Lucy started preschool. She will attend two days a week for 2 and a half hours...while there she will receive her occupational and physical therapies. She was so excited to put on her princess backpack and go to "her school"...I on the other hand was not ready to turn her over to anyone else so soon. It has been 7 years since I took my last "baby" to preschool, so it all seemed brand new...not to mention the fact that I hate having Lucy out of my care. I have been the one meeting all of her needs the last 4 months, and we have not left her with anyone during this time. I know how important the attatchment and bonding period is, but I also know Lucy is 4 years old and wants to play and learn...plus it is so important to begin her therapies. I will admit, I did stay almost the whole time today :), and left her just at the end while they played in the gym. She did great and was so happy to see Bennett and I at the end.
On November 29th Lucy has been with our family 4 months...it seems like she has always been with us. We adore her and cannot imagine life without her. I would say she is basically fluent in English. She understands absolutely everything we say to her, and she is speaking to us in 4 to 6 word sentences...it is so amazing to "watch" her language develop.
(Because this blog is our family scrapbook, I want to record some of the things Lucy does and is saying)
~Thank you, Please, look how cute, pizza in panzone, just a minute, Mommy, more pizza please, I can feed the baby, Mommy look at me, Lucy Joy (last name), Mommy sit down, I go to my school, I help Mama, I help Baba wash...just to name a few
~Lucy's favorite things to do: help Mommy cook, help Baba do laundry, pick up the boys from basketball practice so she can play on the court, take a shower (she loves her bath, but just discovered the shower :), she loves getting new clothes and shoes (that's my girl :)
